ATTRACTIONS

The Town of Christchurch dates back to Saxon times with some of the original Saxon street layout still remaining. The magnificant 11th Century Priory still remains in all its glory and is open to the public daily for viewing or services which are still held there today. Christchurch originally known as twynham 'the place betwix the waters' takes its name from the Priory which was originally known as Christ's Church.

Every Monday in the town centre of Christchurch is the ever popular market with its various stalls selling many different goods and wares. Housed in the old power station is the Electric museum created in 1981 it is now one of the largest exhibitions of electrical equipment

Other local towns of interest are easily reached from our central location. Highcliffe with its Castle, sandy beaches and views of the Isle of Wight is very popular with tourists and can be reached within 5 minutes. Mudeford quay is a center for the local sea fishing industry with walks and beaches and its ever popular pub overlooking the quay is within walking distance. Within 5 minutes drive is the new forest with its walks and cycling tracks not to forget the famous wild ponies. For the nature lover Stanpit Marsh Nature Reserve is a must consisting of wetlands, marsh and sand banks providing unrivaled opportunities for avid birdwatchers.

For those interested in travel past and present we have close to us the Sammy Millar Motorcycle museum and local gift shops.
Slightly further afield we have Beaulieu about 20 minutes by car, famous for its motor museum and a little further up the road Bucklers Hard an 18th century village and maritime museum.
Closer to us we have Lymington a bussling harbour and town also providing a local ferry service to the Isle of Wight.
Bournemouth one of the largest town locally with all the famous named shops and beaches also provides an opportunity to take a ride in a hot air balloon.

For the younger visitor in addition to the miles of beaches already mentioned Christchurch and surrounding areas offer the Largest Maze in the World, Bournemouth Oceanarium, Alice in Wonderland theme park and Poultons Park.

For the atletic Christchurch has its own Ski centre and has numerous Golf Courses, Sailing and Horse riding centers.

In addition within the local area are numerous eating places of varied cuisine catering for all tastes, some of which are within 1 to 5 minutes walk of the Guest House and these also cater for children.
